Maurice Gavin Memorial Lecture – Dr George Seabrooke – The Gaia Revolution Continues.

Dr. George Seabrooke is an astronomer and Principal Research Fellow at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory (MSSL) at University College London. He is involved in multiple European Space Agency missions – ESA’s billion star surveyor, Gaia ; ESA’s dark matter mission, ARRAKIHS (Analysis of Resolved Remnants of Accreted galaxies as a Key Instrument for Halo Surveys) and GaiaNIR (Gaia Near Infra Red) proposal to ESA.
He is a key member of the Gaia Black Hole Task Force and contributed to the discovery of Gaia-BH3, a dormant stellar black hole 33 times the mass of the Sun.
There will also be a presentation on the sky at night for the coming month.
